Dr. Claudine Liss is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and her Doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.
Prior to joining the Dr. Fishbein & Associates, Dr. Liss worked at Jewish Child and Family Services (JCFS). While at JCFS, she provided individual, group, couples, and family therapy, conducted diagnostic assessments, supervised doctoral-level psychology students, consulted to local schools, and assisted with program development and training.
Dr. Liss specializes in providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families. She conducts comprehensive assessments of children’s cognitive, developmental, emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning. She works collaboratively with parents, teachers, schools, and other allied health professionals to optimize client change and growth.
Dr. Liss utilizes a strength-based therapeutic approach that incorporates a developmental, family systems, and psychodynamic framework. She also applies behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions to assist her clients with immediate symptom relief. Dr. Liss strives to enhance the emotional functioning, self-care, and well-being of children and adolescents by strengthening their self-awareness, emotional resilience, self-esteem, and coping skills. She also seeks to improve the social functioning of her clients by fostering their capacity to be involved in positive relationships and supportive social networks. Additionally, she attempts to strengthen family functioning by providing support, empathy, guidance, and education to parents.
Throughout her professional career, Dr. Liss has gained extensive experience evaluating and treating a diverse range of clinical concerns, including: mood and anxiety disorders, attention/executive functioning struggles, developmental delays, behavioral problems, caregiver-child attachment styles, learning difficulties, divorce and blended family concerns, loss and grief issues, social withdrawal, impulse-control disorders, and Trichotillomania and other body-focused repetitive behaviors. In addition, Dr. Liss works with children and adolescents with challenges related to bullying, teasing, and social aggression. She also enjoys utilizing creative mediums, such as play, art, and narrative storytelling, in her therapeutic work.
